Summer moodTrend to furnish (and live) your outdoor

5 design trends for a summer outdoor

The external areas of our homes and public spaces have acquired more and more importance in recent times, so much so that they have become real extensions of the interiors.

As a result, even outdoor furniture has been enriched with new features and functions, to ensure maximum comfort. Let's see together which are the 5 most interesting trends.

1 The living room, outside

Until a few years ago it was difficult to think of furnishing the garden or the area under the porch with outdoor sofas and armchairs.

Today, however, upholstered furniture comes out of its original environment and is transformed into materials that can also be used outdoors.

The dehors becomes a new conversation area, complete with all the comforts we would expect in a living room: sofas , armchairs and lounge chairs with draining padding and fabric covers resistant to sun and rain, stains and humidity (Sunbrella, in primis).

Relax by the sea or in the mountains?

If the next holiday destination can create some dilemma, in terms of furniture the trend is the same as at home: looking for maximum comfort to enjoy the great outdoors, both by the sea and at high altitudes.
Thus, in the outdoor areas of hotels, accommodation facilities and wellness centers we increasingly find sun loungers and deck chairs with generous cushions, or even rocking chairs and daybeds on which to relax en plein air, willingly forgetting the clock.

2 Rounded lines

Moving on to shapes, we may have already noticed this trend in indoor furniture: in recent times curved lines have characterized almost all furnishings.

They are inspired by the forms of nature and when you look at them you spontaneously experience a feeling of calm. The rounded shapes also have a seductive effect, inviting the eye to follow their profile by caressing them with your gaze.

Seats with flowing lines and tables with barrel tops or rounded corners welcome us by embracing the body and smoothing the edges, to make us feel good.

3 Minimal style, (also) of Nordic inspiration

Another widespread trend in outdoor furniture is the search for essential shapes, in many cases influenced by the Nordic style.

At the heart of this trend is the desire to design outdoor spaces with a timeless design, capable of arousing pleasant sensations every time we use or look at them.

In this sense, the Scandinavian style responds to the desire for domestic comfort with harmonious and refined colours, natural wood, simple shapes. The combinations between the furnishings and the outdoor space are refined, carefully chosen to inspire a sense of well-being.

4 All shades of the Earth

Our favorite color palette is in tune with nature. Among the trendy colors this year, we have chosen terracotta, brick, green and teak wood shades, which blend well with the spirit of the summer period and create harmony with the surrounding environment.

The two most trendy colors, terracotta and sage green, are ideal for decorating the outdoors (as much as the indoors, actually).

They combine in a refined way with neutral or warm tones such as white, ivory or beige, but also with natural wood or raw materials, for a more exotic effect.

In both cases, the terracotta and green tones evoke feelings of tranquility and comfort, in harmony with the garden or terrace of the house.

5Portable and rechargeable lamps

Rechargeable lamps have completely renewed the concept of light: from objects used to solve unforeseen situations, in recent years they have become true design jewels.

Some models take up classic forms, of a disarming simplicity and at the same time very current. Others have a bold and eye-catching design.

In any case, rechargeable lights are united by an increasingly advanced technology: dimmable LED lamps and with the possibility of choosing the temperature of the light. They recharge in a few hours and follow us everywhere, both inside and outside the home.
