Moving while sitting. Varier chairs are synonymous with ergonomics: they help keep the body moving while working or studying. They are designed to promote psychophysical well-being: the design is designed to stimulate body movements and maintain a correct position, counteracting the sedentary lifestyle typical of activities that take place at the desk.
The first Variable Balans chair was designed in the 1970s by Peter Opsvik, who argued that “the real enemy of the human body is monotony” . His approach was completely out of the box because it introduced a new way of sitting: resting on your knees, to keep your back and body in a more natural position than traditional chairs. Continuing to move and change position often is the key to every Varier session, which allows you to maintain a correct and active posture.
Varier is a Norwegian company based in Oslo, a territory in which a very avant-garde concept of ergonomics has been developed since the 1970s, that of dynamic ergonomics.
The Varier company was founded in 2006, when it acquired the rights to these ergonomic chairs, initially known under the Stokke brand.
