An innovative brand that preserves traditions

Brokis is rooted in traditional Bohemian glassmaking techniques, elevating them to new heights, preserving generations of knowledge and craftsmanship and combining them with new technologies and processes.

One example is the Night Birds pendant lamps, imposing and elegant silhouettes of birds in flight, made of curved glass. It took two years of experimentation to perfect the technique of bending the materials.

Bohemian art in the 21st century

Brokis was founded in 2006 by Czech entrepreneur and engineer Jan Rabell, who in 1997 bought the historic Janštejn glassworks and realised that demand for traditional products had declined, many of the glassmakers had grown old and were leaving the profession, and traditional technologies and techniques were in danger of being lost. The idea was to create a brand that would revitalise and elevate Bohemian glassmaking by restoring the factory to its former prestige and secure the Bohemian glassmaking tradition a place in the 21st century.

Today, Brokis and Janštejn Glassworks employ a total of 100 people and enjoy a unique symbiosis that has enabled Brokis to launch sales operations in 70 countries and display its renowned lighting collections at major design exhibitions around the world.
