Salone del Mobile 20245 trends for the home and garden

The sixty-second edition of the Salone del Mobile, one of the most important international trade fairs and an unmissable event to discover the next furnishing trends, recently ended.

In this in-depth analysis we have chosen for you five trends and ideas for living among the most interesting that we saw during the Milan Design Week.

1Trendy colours

Among the shades chosen by planners and designers, this year green, petrol, electric blue and ultramarine especially stand out, alongside warm shades such as ocher, orange, terracotta and powder pink. The colors proposed by brands such as Magis, Gervasoni, Scab and Mogg are largely inspired by the shades of nature and sunset, to be combined with neutral shades: grey, hemp or beige.

Alongside these palettes, which we had already noticed among the outdoor trends and autumn colors of recent seasons, there are also increasingly more decisive, pop-inspired shades, with bright shades and shiny finishes, which bring lively vibrations into the home.

2Curved lines and generous padding

Furnishings with a placid appearance, with soft shapes and generous padding: we had already noticed them in previous editions of the Salone del Mobile and this year they dominate furniture trends across the board. In addition to sofas and armchairs, chairs, accessories and coffee tables are also characterized by curved lines, as if to welcome the seated body more gently.

The seats have wide seats and rounded backs, as in the case of the Nora armchair by Mogg and the new Aaland collection by Patricia Urquiola for Kartell . Among coffee tables, sets of tables with different heights are very fashionable, often with shaped tops and irregular shapes inspired by the seabed.

3Spaces to socialize

Together with the formal elements mentioned above, during the last Salone we seemed to perceive more than ever the designers' desire to offer, through furnishings, opportunities to socialize and appreciate moments of relaxation.

The spaces are increasingly open, furnished with lounge armchairs and sofas with low seats, large daybeds that invite people to lie down and chat. Furnishings are also increasingly designed in a modular way, to be able to configure and arrange them flexibly, also based on the situation.

4Celebration of Italian style

There are many brands that draw inspiration from the icons of Italian design and offer new versions, revisited in a contemporary key. Among the most interesting examples of Made in Italy, we particularly liked the chairs inspired by the local bars of the 1960s: Malvasia by Scab, in metal with a woven pattern, and Philía by Pedrali, with seat and back in plastic tape. Slide, on the other hand, takes up the architecture of the Colosseum in Rome for the Coliseum armchair, characterized by shapes that play with full and empty spaces.

5Teak and ceramic for the outdoor area

Finally, a look at the outdoor spaces. Teak returns as the protagonist in the garden, terrace and under the porch with exotic-style furnishings, which create a warm atmosphere in the outdoor area. It is widely used for sofas, armchairs and sunbeds, but we particularly like it for outdoor chairs and tables, on which the wood grain is best appreciated.

Among other materials, stone, ceramic and glazed stoneware emerge this year, giving character to the furnishings with plank or tile motifs and interesting plays of colour, such as those proposed by Myyour and Talenti .
